JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Estimator is responsible for the overall development of the estimate detail utilizing preconstruction resources, managing, and preparing complete estimate package(s) for delivery to the client.

 

SALARY RANGE: $160,180.80 - $192,400.00 annually (companywide)

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

Internal

  • Has key knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors which affect both self-performed and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare Site Management (GCs) and Temporary Site Services (GRs) estimates and review with Senior member of the project team or direct manager.
  • Develop accurate detailed estimates, including self-perform work, independently.
  • Understanding of crew development to insure there are adequate hours and dollars incorporated into the project estimate.
  • Prepare preliminary estimates and studies during preconstruction, monitor design development cost trends in order to detect over-runs and potential problem areas.
  • Participate in the preparation of construction schedule for estimating purposes; request and discuss staffing requirements, and logistics plan with Project Manager.

Owner / Architect

  • Perform constructability reviews with owner and architect.
  • Participate in the value engineering process as a solution provider by developing, presenting, and monitoring budget options log.
  • Effectively negotiate for win-win outcomes.
  • Actively participate in presentation, interview & proposal preparation
  • Assist in presentation of packages and daily discussions with Project Executive of team during preconstruction phases.
  • Prepare detailed quantity surveys and conceptual cost estimates from the early conceptual phase through construction documents, including preparing variance summaries between estimates.

Subcontractor

  • Understand the subcontracting process, prepare detailed bid package estimates per trade, and develop written bid packages.
  • Subcontractor bid / pricing solicitation.

   

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree within the construction field.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Timberline or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
  • Careful attention to detail and resourcefulness in acquiring project specific information.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple tasks under differing deadlines.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed or required by project or proposal deadlines.
  • Experience in Health is a plus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
